Swimming in the SKY
As many people I am the one who likes swimming much. There are a lot of reasons to swim for every age of person. Firstly, I like swimming because it makes me feel like a bird in the water. That is, I feel relief and quiet. Swimming releases feel-good hormones. We can also escape from the issues and stressful cases in our everyday lives, so we blow off steam with swimming. Thanks to swimming I can get rid of our anxiety and worries. I feel better. Additionally I am looking forward to summer holiday because I want to swim in the sea and I am getting tired and stressful because of my lectures and exams. Secondly I can keep away becoming bored when I swim in a sea or a pool. There is enough choice to make new friends. I really like to meet new personalities. Therefore, while I am swimming, people around me make me feel excited and I am meeting them and I am speaking with them. This is also very important and good reason for liking swimming. I gain social environment everywhere. New people make me enjoy more while I am swimming. To sum up some reasons like these make me like swimming, and I like swimming both because I want to feel better and to be social.
Introductory Reflection

First of all , being a university student at metu makes me feel proud and original. I feel as if i m a different student from students of other universities.Metu is a challenging school,i think. In other words, it needs high-level success and effort ,so Metu has many valuable and intelligent people. Every other students are both well-mannered and well-informed . There are always respect and patience among people on the basis of everything . At metu i feel comfortable because there are choosen and successful students,so they have self-consciousness. Secondly Metu gives us a strong education with its foreign language and providing every opportunities. I think , when some one graduates from the school, he or she can easily find a job and have a good career. I feel also lucky if i also become a successful student. I choose Metu FLEdepartment to get educated as a profession or a native , to be a person who have fluent and effective speaking, reading writing skills. On the other hand ,sometimes i feel a bit worthless because some people say that we dont do anything challanging ,struggle much but lie down, and also the location of our department is a bit isolated from any parts of the campus, ifeel. Nevertheless i m happy with my friends lectures and teachers..I want to improve myself and fight my tasks which i should . I m looking forward to graduate from the school ,improve all my skills speak fluently, be a well educated /mannered person and do the job which i like and interest .( It can be translators or academician). I know all my willings are full of hard and challanging ways. Maybe i ll also sometimes be shy speaking loudly in the class or answering a question of my teacher or i ll even struggle much for my tasks but i know every beautiful thing has its own difficulty .. I believe that i ll go through every diffuculty by doing my best... Merve Abitoglu

IN MY OPINION, CRISTIANO RONALDO IS THE PERSON OF THE YEAR!

Real Madrid’s striker Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most earning athletes at the planet. He is the richest footballer in the world. He has generated dozens of assets during his long soccer career. Cristiano Ronaldo has a kind and generous heart. Beside he is accumulating a lot of money from soccer’s world and different endowment deals. He is also spending a huge  charities and donations for needy people. The reason why: “I don’t have tattoos because I donate blood very often,” he once said, according to Diretta News.
In short, Cristiano is not only a good footballer but he is also a good human. He has a golden heart and a generous soul in his athletic body.
The charities and donations of Cristiano Ronaldo are continuous for humanity. Recently he donated seven million Euros to victims of deadliest Earth Quake in Nepal. Therefore he is the world’s most charitable sports after these things and more. Reflection Task 2b-

Here is a film whose name is ' Freedom Writers'. Its brief description or summary :

There is a teacher whose name is Erin Gruwell and who starts her first teaching job in an integrated school. The class consists youth divided into the groups. These guys are loyal to just their own races but they are aggressive for the other ethnics and they fight each other. Erin experiences the challenge of educating such a diverse group of high school. They don t get along well just because of their different races and colors. The students are not respected and they don’t listen her much, either. She tries to connect with her students by talking and unite them. One day, Erin gives notebook the students and tells them she wants them to write something in them every day. Another time she makes them play a line game, and they discover that they share many feelings in common. Next, she decides to have them read The Diary of Anne Frank. By the way Erin has to take part-time jobs to buy books for them and to finance several things. She spents most of her time and money for her children‘s sake and she never gives up ,despite of every one and every obstacles. But in the end, Erin achieve her goal as the students find common ground and form community of sharing. Not only does this story tall about a teacher who contributes to the lives of her students, it also shows us possibility of the diversities ‘unity.
My reflection on the Freedom Writers is that it is a wonderful movie for teenagers to watch because most people can relate to the characters in the film. I think that The Freedom Writers explains a lot that goes on in the human life and what most teens go thorough during high school and also  their at home life. I think that all teens should watch this film so that they can see what other kids their age have been through , such as getting jumped , called names, etc. To me, the Freedom Writers makes you open your eyes and see the real world and what people have to go thorough in order to get respect. Freedom  Writers explains the same things that go on in the movie. I am happy picked this movie because it is very interesting and easy to relate to.  I liked Freedom Writers because I like watching people who have though lives.
The film's sounds are very suitable for the plot. The way of the producer is also related to plot in terms of feelings which the film gives because he is very successful in describing a plot clearly and cognizably .

Reflection task 2a
Why females should take on more business?
It has been proven that women do great with multi tasking. Taking mothers as an example, they have the ability to take care of their house, kids, husband and work, all at the same time. Not only that, but they also never take a NO for an answer.  It is very surprising because usually men are the one who choose and have also more possibilities to become entrepreneurs. Anyway, as long as you know that the individual who can make you or break is you, and with enough persistence you will succeed.
Entrepreneurship may be challenging and tiring. However, we have great examples of women who live in African countries or even India, which are not so developed as the Western ones they still manage to run companies or holding positions.  These are the women we should be looking up to and perceiving as role models. Take Folorunsho Alakija for example, Africa’s richest woman. Alakija is involved in the fashion, oil and printing industries. She is the group managing director of The Rose of Sharon

It’s totally fine to feel that fear, being discriminated, hearing that there are others who can do it better than you, that you are too busy to do it or that you should look for something to do. Find your own way to achieve most powerful woman in the world. Don’t surrender. Being a woman means you are strong enough to do it not the other way around. You need to thrive in the face of it, take the risk and believe in yourself.
Reflection task 1a: Suppose you would like to join a student group at METU.

I am Merve, and I study in foreign language education department. This year is my second year in ODTÜ, but ı am a first year student because ı studied in preparation school. This fall semester is about to finish. This first semester of us is very different from the preparation class. Lectures are more complex. We have much more tasks and projects which is given us continuously. On the other hand, I got used to be a student of Metu, and this year, I also met very good teachers and friends. Actually, I also met two visually handicapped friends in my department this semester. I really want to do some beneficial things for them. When I see them, sometimes I am helping them just with directing to somewhere or help them get on/off the bus. Even so, I want contribute them and people like them more. Last year, I participated in two ‘Engelsiz ODTÜ topluluğu’ meetings thanks to my friends’ suggestion. I made some contribution for the group by sharing my opinions to facilitate their lives. However, I had to quit because of my previous dormitory’s distantness. It was out of the campus. However I want to be part of this community for handicapped people. In my opinion, it is very tragic that these people are not valued and concerned enough by all public. They are not be given primacy. There are quite life- sustaining necessities for them to be helped because they deserve more concern than they are concerned today. That is why I would like to become a permanent member of this very meaningful group. That is, I would like to share their feelings and difficulties in their tough lives. Therefore, if I become member of the group, I will get a chance to help people and I will be beneficial to society and especially to handicapped people.
